THE SCOUT RIFLE AND USE

YES THAT IS A 1916 SPANISH MAUSER CHAMBERD IN 308 WINCHESTER. AND YES IT'S A SCOUT RIFLE. I DID NOT LIKE IT . THERE WERE A FEW DRAW BACKS AND ONE WAS AMMO . IT WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE MORDERN 308 ROUND. PSI'S WERE TO HIGH FOR ANY THING OTHER THAN HAND LOADS THE OTHER WAS IT'S A SMALL RING MAUSER NO OPTIC CHOICES SO I TRADED IT FOR A MORE SUITABLE RIFLE . THE SAVAGE MODEL 340B CHAMBERD IN 30-30 WINCHESTER CAME WITH 3 MAG'S AND SCOPE MOUNT. THE SAVAGE CAN BE SHOT WITH THE SCOPED REMOVED OR REPLACED AND BE
BACK ON ZERO IT FULFILLS EVERY ASPECT OF A SCOUT RIFLE . LIGHT WEIGHT ABOUT A POUND AND A HALF LIGHTER THAN THE MAUSER AND TWO INCHES SHORTER . AMMO IS READLY AVALABLE FROM ANY STORE . 150 YARD RANGE IS ALSO IN THE RANGE OF A SCOUT RIFLE THE 30-30 CAN BE RELOADED WITH BLACK POWDER AND STILL MAINTAIN IT'S RANGE . WITH 147 SPITZER BOATTAIL'S IT'S RANGE IS AROUND 250 YARDS . YES I CAN SHOOT SPITZER'S DUE TO THE REMOVABLE BOX MAG . IT RELOADS FASTER THAN THE MAUSER AND IS A JOY TO SHOOT. I HAVE SHOT BIRDSHOT THROUGH THIS GUN WITH NO ILL EFFECTS. NOTICE SLING AND I HAVE THE SCOPE REMOVED IN THIS PHOTO (TWO THUMB SCREWS AND ITS OFF WERE AS WITH THE MAUSER I MUST REMOVE THE FRONT SIGHT. A SCOUT RIFLE MUST BE FLEXABLE TO BE OF ANY USE. SO WE WILL DISPOSE OF THE MYTH THAT THE SCOPE MUST BE MOUNTED UP FRONT AND IT MUST SHOOT 1000 YARD'S . MOST CONTACT WITH A SCOUT RIFLE WILL BE AT LESS THAN 150 YARDS. AS SUCH THERE IS NO REASON A LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN 30-30 ,357 , 44 MAG WONT PREFORM IN THIS JOB . YOU WILL WANT TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT EVER WEAPON YOU HAVE AND LIKE MOST ALL OF YOU ARE LIMITED ON FUND'S ALSO THERE IS A SORTAGE OF 308 AMMO WERE AS 30-30 AMMO IS CHEAP STILL . SO KEEP PREPING --MADDOG--( I KNOW LAM POST))

Not lame at all Mad Doggy-Dog. I enjoyed it, and learned something too. I have a question for you. I'm just curious really. But what does rimfire mean? Whats the opposite? Center fire? And what does that mean? I'll check back here tonight or tomorrow and see if you left me an answer. Thanks.
